Best time to visit

Weekday vs weekend

  • Weekends attract more crowds to Hawaii, especially Oahu, and the luaus tend to fill up in advance. For a more relaxed, intimate experience, you can consider visiting during the week.
  • If you’re looking for a more vibrant and festive atmosphere, then opt for the weekend shows.

Peak season vs low season

  • Peak season: Summer months (June to early September) are the most crowded in Hawaii. Other peak seasons include December, especially around Christmas time, and Easter & Thanksgiving weekends. Spring break (mid-March to mid-April) also attracts more visitors.
  • Shoulder season: April & May are relatively quieter months, with fewer crowds and relatively pleasant weather. You can also consider visiting any time from mid-September through mid-December. If you want to enjoy a more intimate luau experience, then these months are ideal.
  • Low season: If you are a budget traveler and are looking for a more local luau experience, you can visit from January to early March. Crowds are at their lowest, and the temperatures tend to drop, creating a nice, comfortable, and cosy environment.
