Paradise Cove is one of the few luaus set right on the oceanfront in Ko Olina, offering panoramic sunset views and authentic cultural presentations. What sets it apart is its immersive pre-show activities like spear throwing, Hawaiian games, lei-making, and traditional fishing demonstrations. It feels more like a Hawaiian village experience than just a feast and show.
You’ll want to arrive at least 45-60 minutes before the luau begins. Gates open around 5pm, and early arrival means you’ll have time to enjoy the welcome Mai Tai, participate in games, and witness the Imu Ceremony, where the underground oven is opened to reveal the roasted pig.
Yes, Paradise Cove offers an option for round-trip transportation from most Waikiki hotels. The journey typically takes an hour each way, depending on traffic. The return trip after the show is well organized, with buses grouped by hotel areas to ensure a smooth experience.
It’s a casual, tropical event, so Aloha attire is perfect. Most guests wear light, breathable clothing, sandals or slippers, and bring a light sweater for the cooler coastal breeze after sunset. Avoid high heels since much of the event is held on sand and grass.
Absolutely. One of Paradise Cove’s most iconic features is its unobstructed west-facing ocean view. The sunset occurs during the pre-dinner activities, and many guests stroll to the beachfront or pier area to take photos as the sky lights up in gold and pink hues.
Definitely. Kids love the games, arts and crafts, and the chance to see Hawaiian fishing and pig roasting up close. Families also appreciate that seating is spacious, and the show keeps a lively pace with audience participation, ensuring that even young children stay entertained.
Paradise Cove continues rain or shine. The luau has covered pavilions and tents, and rain showers in Hawaii are often brief. In rare cases of severe weather, the luau will inform you if there is a cancellation.
Yes. You can use your Cove Card to visit the Paradise Cove gift shop and local vendor booths, selling handcrafted jewelry, Polynesian art, and themed apparel.
